Dr. Stella Onyekwelu is the founder and chief optometrist of Eminence Family Eyecare in Alpharetta, Georgia. She graduated from the University of Benin in 2004 with a Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree, where she practiced as an optometrist for several years before relocating to the United States. She then attended Illinois College of Optometry full-time to update her credentials to U.S. standards, graduating with honors and earning membership in the Beta Sigma Kappa honor fraternity.

Dr. Onyekwelu has worked in various clinical settings including VA hospitals and ocular disease referral centers, developing expertise in ocular disease management, orthokeratology, hard and soft contact lens fitting, dry eye treatment, and pediatric eye care. She is certified to use medications for treating eye conditions and to fit specialty contact lenses. She is particularly passionate about Ortho-K for myopia control in children and scleral lenses for patients with irregular corneas.

Known for her warm, patient-first approach, Dr. Onyekwelu takes the time to educate each patient about their eye health and works collaboratively to develop personalized treatment plans. As a mother of three, she established her private practice with state-of-the-art equipment prioritizing superior vision care and patient satisfaction. She actively volunteers through Vision USA, serving low-income patients, and aspires to participate in missionary eye care trips.
